So I finally watched the Doctor Who finale/confidential and I am BROKEN, BROKEN IN MANY MANY WAYS. In conclusion, I love everyone, Ten will always be my Doctor, and I am very much looking forward to watching Eleven in action.
Unemployment is like vacation without the fun. But so far I am sane. My husband is the best person ever. I would probably be sitting in my own self-created garbage heap eating bonbons and talking intently to the cats if it weren't for him. Really, these situations are so much more bearable when you have someone there to keep you from the Pit of Despair. Huzzah for excellent spouses.
Sheer boredom has driven me into the arms of Facebook. This is a sad thing since I am only using it to spy on people from high school and laugh at them, for the most part. They are getting married and procreating, ahaha! God help us all.
I have been picking up some awesome Icecrown gear. IT'S HOTNESS. Even though I have rhino feet. *stompstomp*

Filed for unemployment. The website said that it would only take two days to receive the first deposit. Really? That's kind of crazy. Also, does anyone know if the "potential" weekly benefit they give you when you finish the application actually reflects what you will be getting? Like in terms of having them take 10% federal out, especially?
I need some kind of unemployment icon, lol.

Happy New Year, all!
This year was incredibly unique for me. Here's to hoping that 2010 is just as interesting!

We had a lovely holiday. (Though yet again I am a gamer widow until Brad finishes Assassin's Creed II.) Hope you all enjoyed it!
Counting down the last few days of work. I have gotten some nice sentiments from my vendors. ;_;

I went up to the new office to train someone to do my job and get "official" news of my last day, and it was actually not that bad. The person who is going to do my job until they turn the system off in February could not believe how effed up everything is. I may have to go up again to continue the training, but I doubt it will actually happen. It's going to be a mess no matter what, as the majority of the things I do you can only learn by doing them. I also got to have a final conversation with the big boss man, who offered me a superb recommendation letter and to "generously compensate" me for my "excellent work" in my last paycheck. No clue what exactly he meant, but hopefully a small cash bonus will be included. I also went out to lunch with various New Company people (mostly nice folks, including one who could have been Sam Worthington's twin) and talked with some of the Old Company people who were still around (they all told me the company sucks, the people suck, the commute sucks, and that I am lucky to be getting laid off, because at least I can collect unemployment and move on...most of them have to stay because if they leave they will be sacrificing years of severance pay). All in all, I felt no regret, and sang to the radio at the tops of my lungs all the way home. Unemployment is not going to be a party, but I am looking forward to moving on from this job.

So, dieting in December is fairly impossible, but I have been chugging along. At the very least I am controlling my diet better, and hope to not gain weight this holiday season. (I'm on my period this week, you can guess how much de-railing of diet via chocolate there has been.)
I am going up to the office on Tuesday to finalize things with work. Eh.
The Christmas stuff is up and everything is more or less done. Looking forward to it. :)
In WoW news, kicking ass and taking names in 25 man ICC. In terms of loot, I've picked up Deathbringer's Will. It is an AMAZING trinket.
Also, I hate snow. Snow can go die in a fire. (See what I did there?)

I am going back to dieting again. In December. Which puts me officially on the Crazy Person list. Wish me luck, guys.

Thanksgiving was pretty nice this year. :)
In other news I am almost at the end of a Dragon Age play through AND MY LOVE INTEREST LEFT ME. Something about being king now and having to marry someone who isn't tainted with demon blood like me so he (who is also tainted) can actually have an heir that isn't a completely raving crazy demon blood-tainted ghoul person BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, SCREW YOU MR. RIGHT HAND! I AM GOING BACK TO CAMP TO HAVE HOT LESBIAN SEX WITH THE FRENCH CHICK. Oh wait, it's too late for that, I already blew her off because I WAS WITH YOU. ASS.
This annoyed me so much I stopped playing right before the final battle.
And this is why I am not a gamer chick at heart. I LOSE SHINY, I LOSE INTEREST. OH, PIECE OF CANDY.
MEH! MOAR CAPS

Happy Thanksgiving!
Brad is making mashed potatoes, which of course means my kitchen is shortly to be covered in them.
Ain't cohabitation grand?

Last Boss' Sort of Kind of Replacement took me out to lunch and told me that my last day is January first. Putting aside complete and total panic over bills and health insurance, at least I have decent notice. I am a little upset that some of the Christmas gifts I was planning for various people can't be bought in light of this, but what can I do? It's more notice than I would have gotten; he wasn't supposed to tell me, but felt that wasn't fair, so he came down here anyway. He is apparently going to be taking over my work until they turn the system off. I wished him good luck. I have no emotional attachment to the job, but I am sort of blank with panic when I remind myself that my unemployment pay will not cover the bills, much less anything "extra". I just kind of feel like sitting here and staring into space.

My co-worker was laid off. And system conversion isn't scheduled until next Spring. So it seems I have a job through the holidays, which is a relief.
I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week. This year has gone by so fast.

Could someone who is very smart and patient and able to talk in small words who is also not biased either in favor of or against the new health care bill please explain it to me?
It is 2000 pages long and...well, I am just not that uber.
Please no arguing in comments, either. If you disagree and want to debate, take it your own LJs. :)

WORKING FROM HOME MAKES YOU EVEN MORE BORING, TRUFAX.
Also, for some effing reason, connecting to my work server remotely causes more fuckery in some ways and less in others in terms of Internet filtering. At work, only certain sites were blocked. From home, the server's filtering platform seems to fuck with everything which basically boils down to: I can't surf LJ and be connected to work at the same time. Which makes no sense to me, since this wasn't a problem from work. But it has led to very little time on LJ during the day and since I play Warcraft at night, well...
But anyway, things are going well. I still know nothing about my job's duration but what can you do?
My sister got a baby baby kitten and she is the cutest thing. Will post pics soon.
( Finally collected full T9 armor on my hunter. )
Also, Beecake's album is pretty sweet. "Ball of Earth" is totally about Dom.

Ten years ago yesterday was the official first day of the filming of Lord of the Rings.
...wow. Kinda crazy.

The symphony was truly beautiful. The soloists singing "May it Be" and "End of Days" completely wrecked me. Howard Shore and Doug Adams were delightful. And of course, they are doing Two Towers next year. And Return of the King the next, I assume. Something to look forward to. :)
Beecake was also great. They came out after their gig to sign CDs/t-shirts and were so casual, it was almost as if Billy wasn't famous outside the band at all. He was so relaxed and happy and slightly drunk. They played mostly new stuff, but they did do Drunk and that silly "Kissed a Girl" interlude again. He was very hot. I has their CD. :)
It was a great time and, despite many time crunching stressful public transportation issues (I am an idiot and my husband should have slapped me but he didn't), I am glad we went. We managed to catch the last bus back to Jersey and didn't get home until almost 4 AM, so I am still kind of out of it.

Is anyone going to the FotR symphony at Radio City on Saturday evening? And the Beecake performance afterward?
Brad and I are and I just wanted to know if anyone else would be around. :)

The email came out today about the "operations team" structure. The guy who, for all intents and purposes, replaced my last boss but is not really my boss got a position, which I am pleased about. He is a great guy and I am glad he was able to get hired. They are keeping their coordinator, which of course quashes any thoughts of ever working for them. I can't say that I am sad about it. I don't like what this company has become and I don't like what the new company is, so it's a relief to see it in writing.
I would just like to know if my co-worker is coming back or not. It's five weeks to her return and so far no word. That information will be the difference between one month of work or possibly a year of work for me, so I really need to know. But I guess they will tell me when they can. They can't, after all, let her go on maternity leave, so it's not as if anything can even be done until practically the day she "comes back". Of course there isn't anything to come back to. I have her computer, the office is gone, and I am doing the job. But they may want her instead of me, might offer her the from home deal, due to her expertise in the system which would make a transition to a new system easier. I am really not sure at this point how much her experience is worth to them, especially considering that Boss Replacement But Not Guy knows the system well and is now an employee already on their books.
Either way, I am almost done with this place, and it is good.
I am also almost done with season one of Farscape (it's fun!)...and have no place to get seasons 2-4. HALP

...working from home is indeed the Best Thing Ever.
Instead of staring into space waiting for an email to pop up in my inbox, I am actually getting things done. Cat boxes cleaned! Laundry sorted! Apartment straightened! Instead of eating out of boredom and/or for comfort purposes, I am not! Instead of wanting to stab people in the face with a spork, I am not!
It's all kind of amazing, really.

IT guy is here working on the laptop but I don't care much; all my work stuff is set up on my home computer already and it works fine.
